We have many years of experience in styling hair for formal occasions. We would love to help in making your special day even more special by creating the look that captures the essence of your own unique style. The way your hair is worn on a special occasion can be one of the most important details of the mood you wish to evoke.
Before your appointment:
Have a photo or a very clear description of what you want. Or allow us, the Artists, to create a look that will complement your hair, face, dress, and personal style.
In either case, please let us know, ahead of time, what you like and don’t like. Examples: “Don’t make it too close to my head.” “I want it high (or low) on my head.” “I like large curls.”
It is also helpful to give an idea of the “feel” or style that you are going for. Examples: Greek Goddess, 40’s Hollywood Glamour, Simple & Sophisticated, Young and Edgy.
You can find photos online or in hairstyle and bridal magazines. Understand that the finished look may not exactly duplicate the photo. Many factors will determine the final outcome; hair length, cut, texture and what will complement your face shape. We are experienced artists, so be open to allowing our professional judgment influence the look that is best suited to you.
Consultation and “Practice” visits: We would love to have you come to us before you big day for a complementary consultation. This can make the actual appointment day much less stressful on us both. If you decide to go further than a brief consultation, we can also schedule a “practice” appointment. We can just “try out” some looks, or go as far as completing a finished version of the style choice. This is recommended for the Bride. The cost of a “practice” can range from $15 to the same as the actual appointment cost, depending on how much time is needed. When scheduling a “practice”, please let us know what we will be doing.
On the “BIG DAY”: Have your picture with you, or be ready to clearly describe what you want us to do. If you are allowing us artistic freedom, remember, there are other people scheduled with us that day, and there may not be time to undo and redo the style. That is what the practice is for.
Arrive with clean and completely dry hair. There is no time to shampoo or blow dry. “Second day” hair is best unless your hair is extra oily.
Wear some type of button-up shirt. We don’t want to cut off your favorite top.
Bring any ornamentation, like clips and rhinestones, that we will be using, especially your veil.
This should be a fun day. Friends are welcome, but space is limited. Your guests opinion is important, but please be respectful of your artist. Nuisance guests may be asked to sit and be quiet.
The cell phone is the most distracting thing during your appointment. We know that many details may need addressing, but delegate to someone else. It’s hard to style hair with a cell phone stuck to your head.
You are number one while in the chair, but after you have gone on to your event, we may still have a full day of clients waiting. Please know that this information is to benefit you and all the clients that will come after you. |
